|
Measures the ambient particulate mass concentration of PM-10, PM-2.5, PM-1 and TSP (total suspended particulate matter) in real time The Series 1400a monitor measures the ambient particulate mass concentration of PM-10, PM-2.5, PM-1 and TSP (total suspended particulate matter) in real time. It is the best-selling instrument of its type in the world, with approximately 3,000 sold. ![]() Applications The monitor is used in ambient air monitoring networks worldwide, ambient air research projects, indoor air qualtiy assessment, and exposure studies. The instrument is suitable for a range of other applications requiring time-resolved, mass measurement of the suspended particulate matter concentration. Technology At the heart of the device is the tapered element oscillating microbalance, which is a patented inertial mass measurement technique for making a direct measurement of the particle mass collected on a filter in real time. Regulatory Status The instrument has the USEPA equivalency designation for PM-10 as EQPM-1090-079, and is used extensively by the USEPA and state air monitoring organizations for continuous PM-2.5 monitoring as a correlated acceptable continuous monitor. The monitor is also approved by the German EPA as an equivalent continuous monitoring technique for TSP (total suspended particulate matter) and PM-10. The instrument is also an official or de facto standard in numerous other countries.Details The TEOM Series 1400a Ambient Particulate Monitor from Rupprecht & Patashnick (R&P) combines a powerful set of features that put it in a class of its own. Measured in terms of annual sales, it has achieved the status of being the worlds best-selling USEPA-approved PM-10 continuous ambient particulate monitor. It is used by air monitoring organizations, industry and research organizations worldwide to measure ambient particulate concentration continuously. The time resolution of the Series 1400a Monitor allows users to identify episodes and determine trends in real time. When used in conjunction with meteorological data or information from gasous criterial pollutant analyzers, the instrument can provide vital information in the study of human health effects. Other applications of time-sensitive data include source identification and control, short-term compliance monitoring, emergency response, forensic investigations and numerical modeling. The TEOM Series 1400a Monitor measures air quality at "The Last Supper" Features • U.S. EPA certification EQPM-1090-079 for continuous PM-10 particulate monitoring, and is a USEPA-recognized correlated acceptable continuous monitor for continuous PM-2.5 measurements. TEOM instrumentation also has German TUV approval for TSP and PM-10 measurements. • ETL (UL- and CSA-equivalent) approval, CE designation. • Direct measurement of particulate mass collected on a filter using R&P tapered element oscillating microbalance (TEOM) technology. • Unsurpassed precison, mass and time resolution. Mass concentration data reported in micrograms per cubic meter at standard averaging times of 10 min, 30 min, 1, 8, and 24 hours. • Direct audit and calibration procedures ofmass measurement andflow systems using NIST-traceable standards. • Available with a choice ofsample inlets for PM-10, PM-2.5, PM-1 or TSP monitoring. • Exposed collection filters can be analyzed forheavy metals using standard laboratory techniques such as AA and ICP. • Conditional sampling by time, particulate concentration, meteorological inputs or other variables using the optionalACCU System. • Active volumetric flow control maintains a constant volumetric flow rate by incorporating ambient pressure and temperature sensors. • Industry-leading input/output capabilities: • Menu-driven user interface • Seven analog input channels for receiving external data with conversion to engineering units. • Vector-based averaging for wind speed and direction. • Internal data logging of system and external information. • Three user-defined analog output channels and two contact closure alarm circuits. • Advanced RS232 support for the retrieval of current and logged information. Complete Outdoor Enclosure provides flexible siting capabilities with air conditioning for summer conditions and heating for the wintertime. The enclosure is shown above installed on a trailer designed by an R&P customer. |
