The TEOM Series 4200 Combustion Efficiency Monitor is a second generation combustion efficiency monitor. The TEOM Series 4200 Combustion Efficiency Monitor is a second generation combustion efficiency monitor. The monitor completely automates the sample collection, analysis and reporting processes to provide a measurement of unburned carbon in flyash produced by coal-fired power plants. ![]() Applications Applications of the Series 4200 Monitor include optimization of combustion efficiency. By using information generated by the system, power plant personnel can adjust the combustion process to strike a balance between combustion efficiency, boiler efficiency and NOx emissions. Another benefit of using the Series 4200 system is the reduction in the carbon content of fly ash though the adjustment of boiler controls. By using the Series 4200, plant operators can realize a substantial increase in revenue from fly ash sales. Technology The Series 4200 Monitor uses R&Ps patented Tapered Element Oscillating Microbalce technology and state of the art carbon dioxide monitoring technology. The monitors thermal oxidation technique results in highly accurate and precise analysis that are not affected by changes in plant load, coal type (insensitive to iron and sulfur) or boiler additives. The monitors sample analysis cycle provides measurements once every twelve minutes that are accurate to 0.5% carbon-in-ash. Not applicable. The TEOM Series 4200 Combustion Efficiency Monitor from Rupprecht & Patashnick (R&P) provides the data necessary to optimize combustion efficiency in real time. This industrial hardened analyzer accomplishes its task by automatically measuring the amount of residual carbon in fly ash, and makes this information available to plant personnel. The carbon in ash test performed by the monitor is similar to methods carried out in plant laboratoreis. The monitor is mounted on a special fram that enables plant personnel to move the equipment to different sampling sites. The monitor can also be detached from the frame and mounted permanently on a railing or other support structure. The Series 4200 is designed to maximize on-line performance in the challenging power plant environment. Special considerations have been incorporated into the design to minimize the time required for the instrument operator to service and maintain the instrument. Features • Industrial hardened • Continuous, automatic operation • Isokinetic sampling system • Supports many data output protocols • Built in diagnostics and self-tests • Modular design for ease of maintenance • Transportable • Built-in two point sampling capability • Pneumatically driven sampling and analysis systems eleminate external, mechanical pumps. The operating range of the monitor is as follows • Resolution • ±0.5% based upon a series of camparisons with isokinetically drawn manual samples from the monitors Manual Sample Probe • Operating range • Flue temperature: 250 °F (120 °C) to 800 °F (425 °C) • Ambient temperature range: 65 °F (18 °C) to 140 °F (60 °C) An enclosure is required for temperatures outside this range. • Distance between sensor unit and data reporting computer: up to 1000 feet (300 m) |
